Industrial Wastewater and Sewage Treatment Plant:

Environmental impact assessment of the effluents resulting from antibiotics and pharmaceutical production.

Objectives:

• Treatment of liquid waste and safe disposal of sludge.
• Process modifications to reduce:
• Antibiotic loss.
• Pollutants inhibiting bacterial activity.

Environmental protection measures:

• Reducing discharge from antibiotic ointment tanks to decrease the load on the treatment plant and to maintain the bacterial activity necessary for biological treatment in the plant.
• Sewage with industrial wastewater mixing to augment the fertilizers (nitrogen and phosphorus) required for bacterial reproduction.
• Utilization of treated effluent (instead of drinking water) for the irrigation of green areas, 450 m³/day.
• Eliminating foul odors.
• Minimizing soil and groundwater contamination.
