The project spreads over an area of five million square meters located approximately 15 km south of Doha. The self-sustained naval base, which is served by a naval basin for vessels, comprises around 200 buildings with a total built-up area of over 560,000 m². It is developed as a complete, integral, and state-of-the-art military facility encompassing all functions necessary for naval military operations.
Building types cover administrative, accommodation, recreational, training, logistics, and maintenance facilities, with hierarchical functions that ensure the smoothness of operations, relations, and functionality.
The project is equipped with high-tech engineering systems for operations, back-up power, and data handling & storage, life safety, and security. The systems are carefully tailored to create a backbone of high reliability in relation to the operations necessary for military and crisis management activities.
The base, which is one of the first military facilities in Qatar, is considered a leading facility due to its highly stringent approach to sustainability & environmental consciousness. The project aims at providing comfort for users, beauty for visitors, and cost- efficiency for work areas. The waterfront combines practicality with the beauty of image seen by the vessels approaching the base. The military functions have dictated the bases of exterior designs at some accented areas, with the aim of providing an overall beauty.
For the purpose of establishing a self-sustained and integrated naval base, all designs have considered the various details relating to operations and maintenance requirements, with a view to ensuring a prolonged lifespan of the materials used.
The project’s boundary is secured with security gates, bulletproof-glass buildings, and detention facilities. The base is monitored through special defense and surveillance towers.
