Due to the anticipated growth in Qatar importation, it has been a necessity to construct a commercial port facility. The new world-class port is located outside the capital city of Doha with state-of-the-art technologies and infrastructure.
The new port is expected started operation ahead of the 2022 World Cup that will be hosted by Qatar. The port master plan is closely aligned with the key objectives of Qatar 2030 National Vision: environmental, economic, human and social development. The new port will serve the rapidly increasing needs of the Qatari trade, acting as a catalyst for export industry development in Qatar.
Spanning over an area of 26.5 square kilometers, the project comprises a new port, a new base for the Emiri naval forces and a canal for Qatar Economic Zone 3.
The “New Port Project Steering Committee” appointed ECG-Rosser joint venture as the Building Design Consultant for the project of Qatar Emiri Naval Forces Base (QENFB). The new base will be built offshore, providing berthing for Qatar’s Navy and naval vessels visiting from around the world. The QENFB will offer technical support, comprehensive logistic facilities, material support accommodation and recreational services. The base will provide housing accommodation for 4,000 Navy personnel.
