Photovoltaic Solar Panels System for the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production
Project Description
The Ministry of Military Production “MOMP” required Feasibility Modeling (FM) for every of the five stages of the Photovoltaic Industrial Value Chain; metallurgical grade silicon, polysilicon, ingot/wafer slicing, cells, and module processing stages. Upon developing the FM for each stage, MOMP requested a feasibility study for the whole value chain as one model. The project scope went beyond PV production capturing the possible industrial products that this value chain can produce.
In collaboration with the German Consultant “Fraunhofer Institute (ISE & PSE)”, ECG was assigned as the local engineering consultant of the project and provided a list of all products, byproducts, and services.
The feasibility study involved technical, marketing, and financial reports, EIA, socioeconomic study, and a business plan. Works covered a study of the minimum economically viable production volumes for each industry; where the project was expected to produce about 1 GW. However, the capacity was defined by the study based on all parameters associated with the market analysis.
This adds to a study of power consumption, required utilities, area planning, and selection of the optimum site on a strategic scale, as well as the raw materials required for production and the specifications and availability of machinery.
The study was accomplished, submitted, and approved on 2019, while several updates were performed during 2020 and 2021.
A thorough Due-Diligence was also accomplished for a potential international manufacturing partner for “NOMP”.
The heavily specialized study was funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
