Health and Safety Engineer

• Following up the approved Contractor safety plan.
• Render assistance to construction site manager formulating Health and Safety Plan, in line with policy of ECG, requirements of contract and locations activities involved.
• Issue necessary directives to contractor safety engineer/officer and render advice to project manager as required.
• Render necessary advice to the contractor engineers/supervisors/foreman during site visits.
• Take part in safety meeting at project level and if required at divisional/departmental level.
• Carryout weekly inspection of contractor camps reference to environmental protection, hygiene/sanitation, fire prevention/protection/measure. Emergency drills and render report to Construction Site Manager and Loss Prevention Manager.
• Inspect equipment, structures and work in progress to ensure that regulatory HSE manual of ECG and all applicable standards are followed.
• The safety engineer of the project site has the power and duty to stop work in areas where hazardous condition are observed and is obliged to instruct the personnel to put the situation right before work continues.
• After stop work, he must inform construction site manager.
• Identify and eliminate process hazards.
• Conduct incident investigation and associated root cause analyses.
