ECG participation in CSR: Toward Investment and Development

On March 6, 2019, ECG Vice President Dr. Nevine Abdelkhalek effectively participated as a Keynote Speaker on the CSR: The Road to Investment & Development Forum organized by CSR Egypt and hosted by the General Authority for Investment and attended by representatives of CSR stakeholders from the Governmental Sector, Private Sector, Civil Society Associations and International Organizations.

 

In her capacity as ECG Vice  President  &  EBA Sustainable Committee Chairperson,  Dr. Nevine Abdelkhalek talked on the panel that had speakers representing the different CSR Stakeholders in Egypt; including Mr. Moataz Yakn Advisor the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Eng. Aml Mobadda Resources Development Director at Misr El-Khair, Mr. Mohamed Mostafa the ILO Industrial Relations Program Manager, Mr. Mohamed El-Fouly CEO the UN Global Compact Network /Egypt, Middle East and Eastern Europe.

In her talk, Dr. Nevine Abdelkhalek highlighted the importance of CSR activities for sustainability of the business and how companies should move from doing pure charity activities to sustainable development projects .e.g.  ECG implementing the University to Work (UTW) and School to Work (STW) Projects to qualify Egyptian youth for the engineering labor market. She also highlighted the challenges of CSR in Egypt and the need for awareness raising activities.

During the CSR forum, some companies and banks like El-Sweedy Electric, El-Araby Group, El-Qalaa, Vodafone, Nestle, Juhayna Food Industries, L’Oreal, Unilever, Microsoft and Attijariwafa Bank presented their successful CSR projects
