IEEE Global Conference on Internet of Things (GCIoT)

ECG was proud to have Mr. Ahmed Sorour, Communications & Security Systems Department Manager, empaneled as speaker in a discussion titled “Smart Sustainable Cities – Opportunities and Challenges.” The panel was part of the second round of IEEE Global Conference on Internet of Things (GCIoT), which took place on 5–7 December 2018, at Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The event was moderated by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and joined by ECG, NOKIA and WE.

The IEEE GCIoT 2018 aims to help participants, researchers and professionals share experiences and discuss up-to-minute information and technological facts. The conference brings the latest researches relevant to the IoT, including a wide-ranging program of presentations, panel discussions, project showcasing and outstanding innovations that serve the community and drive the global trend towards establishing “A More Connected World!”

The discussion engaged current ideas and concepts adopted in smart cities, indicating ECG’s role during different project phases, starting from feasibility studies up until the construction phase. ECG highlighted the challenges it encountered and illustrated the strategies adopted to overcome them, hand-in-hand with full cooperation and coordination with various stakeholders, developers, operators, authorities, integrators and manufacturers.
