ECG organizes “Batimat 3rd Egypt Projects Summit: Building Future Egypt”

On Thursday, 1 March 2018, ECG co-organized—jointly with Reed Expositions and AGEX—the “Batimat 3rd Egypt Projects Summit: Building Future Egypt” at New Cairo International Conference Center (NCICC). The summit was held under the patronage of Egypt’s Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, in the presence of representatives of the Housing, Industry & Trade, Environment, and Planning parallel to the inauguration of the city of New Alamein by The President Abdel Fattah ElSissi.

The summit, inaugurated by Cairo Governor Atef Abdul Hameed and chaired by ECG Vice President Dr. Nevine AbdelKhalek, was held concurrently with two exhibitions hosted at the same venue: the International Exhibition for Construction and Building Materials “BATIMAT Egypt”.

During the summit, on behalf of the Prime Minister Sherif Ismail Housing Major General Mostafa Al-Agouzon who was present on behalf of the Minister of housing stated that there are great investment opportunities in new cities, including residential projects. In the same context, he pointed out that large pieces of land are being offered to investors, which represents a paradigm shift in the housing scheme adopted in Egypt.

On behalf of the Environment Minister, Dr. Sherif Abdul Raheem stressed the importance of following environmental and green building codes in the design and construction of buildings. He also emphasized the need to employ modern technologies that help rationalize the use of water and energy.

On behalf of the President of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Co. Major General Ahmed Zaki Abdeen, Administrative Capital Spokesperson Brigadier General Khaled Al-Husseiny gave a video presentation highlighting the progress and level of achievement within Phase 1 of the Administrative Capital. The presentation also shed light on investment opportunities within Phase 2.  

Major General Ahmad Fouad Ahmed, Director of the Cairo Governorate Network Information Center, stressed the importance of utilizing geographic information systems in land surveying activities.

Mr. Mamdouh Badreldin, President of the Real Estate Chamber of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, highlighted the importance of investing in commercial projects, such as hotels, resorts, and shopping malls.

On the first day of the summit, ECG’s Technical Specifications Department Manager Ehab Al-Sharkawy participated in a panel discussion titled “How to Get an Approved Vendor List.” Moreover, ECG’s Senior Design Architect Ahmed Hassab participated in a session addressing “Double Curved Façade Engineering & Fabrication” as part of a workshop titled “Façade Engineering.”
