Investment opportunities in Upper Egypt

In her capacity as ECG Vice President for Human Resources and Organization Development, UTW Project Manager and Head of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association, Dr. Nevine Abdelkhalek, along with Monitoring & Evaluation Section Head Mr. Sayed Abdel Aal, visited Sohag Governor Dr. Ayman Abdel Monem on March 24th & 25th, 2015.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the potential of investment in human capital, as well as investment opportunities and threats in Upper Egypt, particularly in Sohag. Discussions covered a range of investment areas: the industrial sector, including the production of silk and tulle; agriculture and the production of medicinal plants; low-income housing; private universities; retail and hospitality industries, including hotels, entertainment & recreation and religious tourism.

After the border demarcation of Egypt’s governorates, Sohag now has access to the Red Sea, which will certainly encourage more investments in resorts, agribusiness and logistic services ports.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdel Monem welcomed the idea of organising an economic/investment conference in Sohag, with the aim of emphasizing the importance of investments in Upper Egypt.

Dr. Abdelkhalek and Mr. Abdel Aal are planning another visit to Assiut to discuss similar investment opportunities in the governorate.
