Child and Society Development Institution (CSDI) was established in the year 2005 as a non-profit organization that seeks the welfare and benefit of our society, children and mothers. It provides educational, scientific, cultural, and religious services to both children and mothers in order to become active and be better members of the society. In 2005, ECG was awarded the design and construction management and supervision over phases 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Smart School, in collaboration with Orascom Construction Industries; the project's contractor. The school was developed on a plot area of 70,870 m2.

In 2007, phase I was completed and comprised nursery and kindergarten building which included the administration offices and the services building. In 2008, phase II was completed and comprised primary building 1 consisting of basement and 3 typical floors; gym and multipurpose building, which consist of administration offices and theatre. In 2009, phase III was completed and comprised primary building 2 , which consisted of basement and 3 typical floors and the library building. Phase IV is expected to be completed by 2011 and will comprise the preparatory and secondary building which consists of lower ground floor, ground floor and 3 typical floors. The project also included infrastructure works, playgrounds, fences, gates and car and bus parking area.

The school provides both English Education Program under the supervision of the British Council and French Program which teaches the official program of the National Ministry of French Education. In 2007, the British Section (Kipling) first opened with 65 students in the Kindergarten building, in 2008 upon completion of the primary building this number reached 350 students and in 2010 the number of students reached 550 students. In 2010, the French section (Voltaire), which has been approved by the Agency for French Teaching abroad, has reached 440 students.

The main challenge was that the works have to be completed, tested, commissioned and operational at least one month before the beginning of the school year on first week of September 2007 to allow the owner to start activities such as furnishing, fixing equipments, apparatus....etc. Thus leaving only about eight months for construction, testing & commissioning. Accordingly, a fast track construction procedure was adopted.
