ElKureimat 750 MW Combined Cycle Project is located within the boundaries of the existing 2600 MW thermal power plant site. ECG was involved in the civil design of phases II and III of ElKuraimat New Combined Cycle Power Plant.

Phase II involved two 250-MW gas turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators, and one 250-MW steam turbine generator and condenser. Auxiliary facilities undertaken comprised a tank farm, water and wastewater treatment plants, a water intake/discharge, lift stations, a foam house, transformers, and a fuel oil unloading station. Ancillary buildings developed included an administration building, a warehouse/work shop, a mosque, and a construction office building. Moving forward, phase III of the project comprised two 250-MW gas turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators, and one 250-MW steam turbine generator and condenser. The power plant cooling water is withdrawn from the Nile River. When fully operational, the proposed project will provide 750 MW generation capacity to Egypt's Unified Powers System, representing some 6 per cent of the country's total electricity generation expansion during the period 2004/05-2011/12.
