EFG Hermes decided in 2008 to have a new Headquarters in the Smart Village, Cairo. The new development will hold approximately 900 of the group's staff.
EFG awarded the project to ECG to develop the Architectural concept, Structure and MEP designs for the building, in addition to the full supervision over construction.
The 4000 m2 footprint building that was completed and fully operated in April 2010 consists of 2 basements, ground floor and 3 typical floors with total built-up area of 28,000 m2.
The building lays now on the far north-east side of the Smart Village not only breaks the mould of business premises in the region but represents a physical incarnation of EFG Hermes company values as well. The design embodies the company core values of transparency, dynamism and the drive to be pioneers and leaders in the field.
With an emphasis on sustainability, the premises are built using environmentally friendly materials, and all amenities will support EFG-Hermes' aim of maintaining a healthy staff work/life balance by creating superior working and after-hours conditions.
The building layout is split into two halves bordering a 4-storey high naturally lighted atrium, the main entrance. Communication bridges between office spaces are also passing through the atrium. The open space office layout was designed to allow the maximum light into the work space.
The ground floor level provides all services required for the staff, 3 different food outlets with indoor/outdoor eating spaces and a well equipped GYM. The office layouts allow for a breakout areas in all floors for the staff to encourage social interaction.
