The new head office complex of Crédit Agricole Egypt was planned to accommodate headquarters sta! from different locations in Central Cairo.The project was located on a land area of 51,334 m2 in New Cairo. The new head office was implemented on 50% of the area (26,667 m2), with a built-up area of 42,000 m2, comprising two basements, ground floor and three typical floors.
The building emerged from an oasis of palm trees where the design intelligently used the project site natural slope, creating a semi-open garden floor. The strong, regular geometry of the building was contrasted by irregular shapes of the surrounding landscape elements, namely, the palm trees and large boulders.The structure was divided into two above ground wings; each consists of four floors connected by a central hall through interior bridges, highly developed building facades, and a cantilevered roof providing shade and protection to the entrance.
The building floors included retail branch, central reception, staff restaurant, kitchen facilities, board room, reception/meeting room, employee offices, training center, a 150-person auditorium, IT communication and data center (240 m2), loading bay, security room and post room. The basement comprised central vault, gymnasium, two prayer rooms, maintenance room, first-aid room,
and archiving area.
The head office complex was designed to reach the required qualifications for LEED Platinum Level (full LEED documentation was implemented, including that feasibility studies, daylight simulation, etc...). This LEED rating suggested the bank head office complex earned over 80 points out of 100 points in different categories related to the green aspects of the building; i.e. water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials, resources and indoor environmental quality. Energy simulation model was developed to evaluate the building form and orientation in relation to the overall building energy efficiency.
To satisfy the needs of this particular project in terms of accurate modeling and coordination among different disciplines, ECG used Revit BIM package throughout the design process, starting from the schematic design all through the design stages.
