From 1980 to 2006, ECG was awarded a series of contracts under the Alexandria Wastewater Upgrade Program. A phased implementation plan to improve and expand Alexandria's wastewater system involved 2 treatment plants, 6 pump stations, force mains, collectors, sewer, and other facilities. Undertaken in a joint venture with two global US consultants CH2M HILL and Metcalf & Eddy, the US$ 5 billion project was completed with USAID funding.
ECG's scope of work entailed master planning, designing, detailed engineering, construction management/supervision, operations and maintenance manuals preparation, start-up and commissioning operations, and training.
